And the sun shone for most of today … bliss on a stick.
Sorry there aren’t any photos … I left my camera in a friends car.
Took Coco for a walk to Lock 5.
The grass had been mowed and the sun was shining … Coco and I were happy little beings.
Another person and their dog were at the lock so we all said hi … the owners (me and Bob) chatted for about 15 minutes … the dogs ran like demented chickens around each other.
Coco and I walked for about 2 hours just enjoying the quiet … the water … the birds and stopping every now and then to taste the wild blackberries.
I left Coco totally exhausted on the couch and went to Moo Bar for a meeting about the Leitrim Experience programme that we’re developing.
Then I popped in to Maggies and said hi … and then went on an errand for Mrs Smyth … how hard is it to find Victoria Sponge? … harder than you think folks.
Ran into Laura Gilheaney from Shaylyn.
Laura wanted to know where the Lock walk was …and I wanted to know about the course they are running.
She mentioned that you can let your dogs run free somewhere along the canal where you turn left at Supervalu.
I’m sending out a question to all dog owners … where can we take our dogs within walking distance of town?
Lock 5 is great … a bit soggy but a good long run and play for the dogs and only 15 minutes walk from town.
Please leave your suggestions here … please.
Laura kindly dropped in a list of all the courses that Shalyn are running to my cottage … fab service.
I’m interested in the Pilates course starting later in September.
I’ll do a list of their courses next week … they look great.
Also … if you have a course you want run then drop them a line … if there’s demand then they’ll run it.
A lovely day … simple.

I haven’t commented in 2-3 weeks. Not at all like me but I do have a good reason. On August 16 Liz posted regarding the abuse of animals, women, and children. I found myself so angered, seething, and seeing red by the very thought and considering what had just taken place in our lives on Aug. 14 I was unable to comment. Since then I have been overwhelmingly busy with the big change in our lives.
I will give you a brief summary and then ask – if you are interested – please go to my blog where you will get “the rest of the story” plus pictures.
Summary: 8-14-08 – my husband found a lonely, frightened Beagle mix abandoned in the desert. 105 degrees out and little shade, no water, and very pregnant. She had no collar and there is absolutely nothing for miles along this stretch of road – no houses, no water, no trees of any size – NOTHING! He brought her home. She is a very special dog and we have given her a forever home. She delivered 9 pups (7 lived) on Aug. 18 whom we will take care of until they are 8 weeks old at which time BARC (Beagles of Arizona Rescue Club) will take them and responsibly adopt them out to good and loving homes.

“Molly’s Story”
I apologize in advance for the sloppy publishing. I am having a most frustrating time with WordPress and am about to switch everything over to Typepad.

I do hope all readers understand that my comment about, “angered, seething, and seeing red by the very thought” was completely directed at those people who think they can abuse animals, children and others and that it is OK”
I am grateful to Liz for bringing this subject (abuse) into the public awareness as not enough of us are willing to talk about it.
Our Molly and her pups are doing fine now. Molly’s burns are healing and the pups are beyond adorable. They will have their first set of shots in 2 weeks. Then at 8 weeks BARC will take them and adopt them to people who have passed their stringent and rigorous tests for adoption.
We have since found more abandoned and neglected – to the point of starvation – pups and have been able to capture them and turn them over to the Arizona Humane Society.
This seems to be a never ending problem and one for which I have no idea how to solve. Education should be the answer but it does not seem to be working.
