We have a lovely art gallery here in Ballinamore on Main Street.
It’s inside Ben and Gails florist and garden centre … and then up the stairs.
I’ve been documenting a few of the most recent exhibition openings and thought it would be good to bring all the posts into one page.
So here they are:- quick note – I’m having trouble finding the other 2 or 3 posts … I’ll put up Marie Lee’s exhibition and find the others later
April 29 2009 – Group Art Exhibition
Just back from taking a few more photos of the group art exhibition at the Solas Gallery in Ben and Gail’s garden centre.
William and I went to the opening on Friday and had a good look around before the crowds came in.
I think the art is a great improvement on last years exhibition … people are just getting better and better.
Once again … I’ll let the photos do the talking.
March 27 – April 18 2009 Marie Lee solo exhibition –
After a busy Friday I went to the opening of solo art exhibition by Marie Lee last night.
Her work is really lovely … a mix of land and seascape … and flowers.
As you wander the exhibition you can see how her skill has developed over the years.
I turned up at 7.30pm (the opening time) thinking that Irish Time would prevail (everyone turns up at least 40 minutes late) … no way … the place was packed.
I said hi to Ben and Gail and grabbed a glass of red wine … and up the stairs … and into the 2 galleries.
Here are some more of Marie Lee’s paintings.
I said hi to Joan Walsh … a great woman … artist & musician … she has a fab dog called Girleen.
I also met some of the members of the Art Group … people who really love painting … and are delighted to have any of their works exhibited.

Hello. I just came across your blog. I love it. My late grandmothers were from Ballinamore, and settled in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, during the early 1900’s. My two cats are named in honor of them – Logan and Flynn (my grannies’ maiden names). I’m writing to you from Tallahassee, Florida, USA. I had the pleasure of visiting Ballinamore about 12 years ago and would love to visit again some time. In the meantime, I enjoy reading anything about Ballinamore. Ms. Lee’s art work is very nice. I’m interested in contacting her for a price list. Can you provide her address? Thank you kindly.
Hi Barbara
I’ll get a copy of Marie Lee’s price list and email it to you by the end of this week.
Her work is really lovely and she sold very well.
If there are any particular paintings you want to see … let me know and I’ll take a photo of them.
I’ll let Marie Lee know you like her work.
And … your very welcome to my blog.
So many people that read it have some connection with Ballinamore and it delights me to hear from them.
Do stay in contact.
