10 days since I left Dublin for Singapore and then Perth.
Long haul is a particular form of purgatory but I did get 3 empty seats on the 12 hour trip from Frankfurt to Singapore.
Spent 2 days with Marc in Singapore – not long enough but the travel agents got the dates wrong – c’est la vie. Fab time had in 2 days. We even drove across to Malaysia (thanks Yang for the great driving) to buy me sunglasses.
After way too short a time I was on another flight to Perth. Five hours in a plane that was full of dry air and lots of people – including me – gasping for air and water. Given that we aren’t allowed to bring water through airport security I wonder why airlines don’t give us all a bottle of water when we board. I’d pay for it.
Landed in Perth airport and then went through quite a few long lines of people and different customs checks – all done with Aussie good manners.
Then I was through and got a great hug from Dad.
I’ve been with Dad and Liz a week now and it’s really relaxing. I’ve been feeling the jetlag and I also got another cold and cough – which was exacerbated by the dry dry plane trip.
I’d forgotten how bright the light is here in Oz. The fab sunnies will come in very handy.
Weather is in the mid 20’s C which lets me get used to temps that have 2 figures.
I feel like I’ve just caught up with myself and am feeling great.
Dad’s teaching me some carpentry – a bit of joinery so I can make doors and cupboards for my cob house. Lots of fun and noisy power tools.
I’ll post photos as soon as Marc and I can upgrade Dad’s cpmputer. It’s very very slow and we’ve decided to move it up into the 21st century.
Hope all is sunny for you.
Apologies for any spelling errors but I can’t see half the text I’ve written on this computer.
