OK – for the next little while I’ll be sharing a few photo memories of my Oz and Singapore trip.
At the beginning and end of my trip I stayed with my brother Marc and his partner Yang in Singapore.
We don’t get a chance to see each other often so I was bummed that my travel agent (soon to be ex travel agent) got the dates wrong and I had less time with him.
On the first trip we only had 2 days but we filled them with fun. Marc and I had drinks at my fave hotel – the Scarlett. It’s uber baroque and maximilist and just fun.
Weather was lovely and warm/cool. Singapore was as green as usual – they have plants everywhere on freeways and walkover bridges – beautiful.
On my return trip Singapore was gearing up for Chinese New Year. Red and Gold was in evidence everywhere. I even wandered all by myself through the crowds in China Town (I have a fairly well developed crowd phobia so I was very pleased with myself).
Marc is an amazing brother and host. I think we had a different french champagne each night of my return visit – and some fairly amazing cocktails before I got on the long haul flight to Heathrow.
Having time with Marc was a real treat as we talked and listened – laughed and challenged and encouraged each other. He’s one of my favourite people in the world.
I love visiting Singapore – seeing Marc and Yang; wandering around different cultures; shopping; visiting temples.
Marc and I agreed that I need to visit for longer as we just get started on our chats and it’s time for me to go. If all goes well, I plan to fly to Singapore this November for 2 weeks and gather goods for Lippylala. We may fly to Vietnam where Marc says there are wonderful things to buy from family businesses.
This is just a glimpse of my time in Singapore. My next post will have photos of the amazing range of buildings in Singapore and some crazy signs.
