You know when you’re half asleep and you can’t remember what day it is?
I was there this morning … and I was sure it was Monday.
When I realised it was Sunday I got this real burst of joy … I could sleep in … have a slow breakfast … read in bed … do whatever I liked.
It’s lovely and still outside … none of the Monday bustle … which I enjoy also … but on a Monday.
Took Coco outside to do her business and saw the first leaves on the elderflower trees.
These photos are specially for you Mags.
A bit of a change from last Sundays snow.
How did V.Day … or Saturday … as we Valentine Free people call it … go for you?
Eamonn & Noeleen across the road looked very busy. I’ve been checking their new website stats and lots of people have been visiting … cool.
I seem to have some kind of animal karma going on at the moment … or perhaps it’s my soft marshmallow heart.
I popped in to see Mags in Smyths Shop yesterday and she got a call from Greg Smyth.
He had been running in from Aughnasheelin (I have to lay down just thinking of all that exercise) and was followed by a dog.
The dog ran away around the Golf Links road in town and Greg was ringing Mags to ring someone who knew someone … who could save the dog.
It’s that kind of town folks.
I left Mags to take Coco for a walk.
We were down the end of the street on the bridge looking at the river … when I saw a dog running up and down the riverbank.
I called it to me and decided to take it back to the cottage and then get the Mags Detective on the case.
Easier said than done.
I had about 4 heart incidents (that’s what my Dad calls them … hi Pa … will ring you today xx) as the dog kept running across the main street to people he thought were his owners.
Coco meanwhile kept looking back at the other dog … so I have one dog on a lead twisting around … and another dog running hither and thither into the traffic … and Supavalu … and the butchers … and the pubs … and …
I was a wreck by the time we’d walked to the top of the street to my cottage.
Put Coco inside and the lead on the lost dog … and went up to Mags (Ballinamores own animal whisperer).
I felt a little smug as this dog doesn’t sit automatically when I stop … my Coco does … just a little proud parent boasting.
On the other hand … lost dog didn’t pull on the lead!
Anyway … I leave Mags with the detective job and take dog back to the cottage.
Coco sits on the couch and barks at him … letting him know who’s boss … as all good women will do.
She stopped soon enough and for the next 90 minutes she and the dog went ballistic … running around and just having the best time in the lounge room.
I went to the kitchen to prepare the roast vege lasagne for dinner with Brian … and mused that I was really glad I hadn’t washed the floors yet.
I kept going in to the lounge every now and then to restore a semblance of order … and … like 2 bold children they’d sit and look innocent … then go postal when I moved back into the kitchen.
It just made me laugh.
I gave the dogs some treats and they became such good friends … they shared some milk together.
Mags came over and said she had tracked the owner down and talked with them … the dogs name? … wait for it …
And my dogs called Coco (after Chanel and Chocolate).
The owners Mum came and picked up Armani and I think Coco was either completely tired and/or missed her playmate … she just lay down for a few hours and looked out the door.
I meanwhile got to clean all the floors, make dinner & clean out the fireplace.
Coco was fine by the time Brian arrived … ready to share her joy of life.
I’m off now to read in bed for hours and hours … then some warmed up lasagne … gotta say … it’s really tasty.
We had it last night with a fresh spinach leaves and avocado salad (lemon juice squeezed on the leaves).
It had more vegetables than last time – mushrooms, onions, garlic, ginger, carrots, zuccini, aubergine, tomatoes, sweet potato, red and yellow peppers (capsicum) … and lots of dried herbs … sage, tumeric, mixed herbs, fresh thyme (I’m growing it in a pot). The seeds you can see on the top of the lasagne are cumin seeds.
I’ll pop some in to Mags later.
May your Sunday be as indolent or as active as you wish.
Moi? I’m going to deepen my lolling practice … I was far too active this week.
Liz lolling … and Coco lolling on her lap … a kind of double lolling … only to be attempted by experts.
