Gorse really starting to go golden along the river
An interesting day.
Eventually got out of bed … felt quite tired this morning.
Coco was ready to bounce out and greet the day somewhere around 6am … no way.
We went for a walk to Lock 5 and I enjoyed seeing the gorse get more golden … and buds appear on the skeletal trees … that I love in the winter … and enjoy now as they green up.
Coco had the best time running around and fetching the stick.
After a while I sat by the water and wrote a list of things to do for this week … lots and lots and lots …
Was rather startled on my way home.
When Coco and I walk by the boys school she usually jumps on the grass and walks along the edge and the wall … still on the lead … and it takes less than 10 seconds ... and I’d never let her off the lead or to mess the lawn.
It makes her happy and I think some of the boys enjoy looking out the window for a second and seeing a happy dog.
Anyway … just as she was leaping off the wall onto the pavement … a man came out the school door and called out ‘excuse me … get that dog off the property’.
He must have seen Coco go on the lawn and dashed out of his classroom in the 10 seconds she walked along.
Now … I have no problem being asked to do something … but this man didn’t crack a smile and used a tone of voice that made it seem like Coco had just mauled one of the children … who were all in their classrooms.
I always try and think the best of people … maybe he was having a bad day … or life. Maybe he loves the grass and has had bad experiences with dogs. Maybe he … who knows …
I just hope that he is more relaxed and less authoritarian with his students … and he only looked about 20ish … dear me.
I will not let Coco go on the grass as I don’t want the young man to have to come out and assert his authority again … too exhausting.
We will wave as we go by though … no hard feelings man.
Anne lost all her bee hives over the winter … hundreds of thousands of bees … lots of snow.
They are investing in new hives and I suggested that we use one hive to learn about bees.
One of the hives will be called Liz Biz Bees and they are setting up a blog so that we can all follow the bees lives.
You can have bees named after you, a friend or a relative … for free … just let me know as I’m starting a list … I think there are 60,000 bees!
The queen bee is called Liz … who? vain creature me? … Anne wanted to call all the bees Liz … so one is elegant sufficiency.
Anne sent me a photo of the hive and a map reference … very cool.
The Liz Biz Bees Hive … hi guys
I’ll let you know when the Liz Biz Bees site is active.
Anne is also hoping to send some of the Liz Biz Bee honey to me and the Sunny Funny Garden Gang … that would be amazing.
Was making a cuppa and thinking ‘I’ll sort Aislings blog site admin stuff right now’ … and who should knock on the door but Aisling.
Took an hour or so to sort the stuff out and show her a few neat WordPress tricks … all done.
Go have a look at her paintings and writing on the community gardens she is involved with around the area.
Went back to doing some emailing and there was another knock on the door … Hannah B was picking up her coat from Sunny Funny Garden session last Thursday.
Popped out to say hi to her mum Sharon … yeh the Sharon of amazing cake and chocolate and cupcake fame.
Had a lovely chat and was joined by Helena from across the street and Dee … it’s lovely to just be able to stand in the street and chat to your neighbours.
Hannah wrote a small poem about Sunny Funny Garden as we chatted
you’re so cool
Hannah Banks Sweeney
Thanks Hannah … you rock.
Tomorrow I’m taking photos of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the closing of our narrow gauge railway here in Ballinamore.
Photos will be in this blog on Tuesday evening as I have to go to Dublin all day Wednesday for a SKIL2 meeting.
Thursday I’ll be photographing Sharon’s Easter choc offerings … can’t wait.
Then Hannah and I will walk down for Sunny Funny Garden time … please let it be sunny.
Friday sees me at the organic food growing course in Rossinver and then a few hours in the garden centre across the road … all great learning.
My brother Marc has taken a few days break in Malaysia ( he lives in Singapore so it’s only a few hours drive) to get some peace and quiet.
I realised that I need some total quiet time to develop the Life Dreaming course … and there are way too many distractions in Ballinamore … all good.
Funny that … people often come to Ballinamore to get peace … I have to go up a mountain!
Having very little money means that I can’t jaunt off to some spa.
I had to think creatively … where could I go that would cost me nothing … and still be lovely.
Another blogger Pam has a lovely cottage about 6 miles out of town.
She lives in Dublin for part of the week … although I’m hoping she and Paul will be at the cottage for the summer.
I emailed her and asked if I could stay there next week for a few days … and we could barter something.
She very kindly said I would be welcome … thanks so much Pam.
So … I’m off for a few days retreat from Sunday or Monday until Thursday afternoon … can’t miss Sunny Funny Garden.
Coco’s coming as well but there will be no phone or email … silence and quiet for days … can’t wait.
Off now to take Coco for another walk.
