the boats have started travelling the lock again … love to do that one day in a Riversdale barge.
After 3 days of wonderful sunshine … I’ve woken to rain.
Ah well … I’ll count my blessings.
On Saturday it was a wonderfully sunny and busy day:
William and I went to a friends to build doors for their polytunnel with scrap wood.
We spent about 4 hours there and made a great door and then one of us cut a piece of wood too short for the top bit of the brace.
Who was it? The Master or the Apprentice? Hmmmm … it wasn’t moi!
Coco and Ella dogs had a great time running free on the property which is full of nooks and crannies.
Just sitting having lunch in the sun was a delight.
When we got back to Ballinamore it was so sunny that I said to William ‘let’s have a barbque with Mags’ … we’ve created a kind of cottage communal outdoor eating area.
Mags was up for it.
So … dogs got to run around … men got to play with fire … we all got to sit in the sun and just enjoy a great evening … which went on until the wee small hours.
Somehow the equivalent of the Irish bush telegraph got to work and before I knew it we had about 10 people there … with their instruments.
I thought of me dear friends Lynda & Derek and how much they would have loved the evening … we know how to enjoy ourselves … and a barbque that doesn’t involve an umbrella (to keep off the rain … not the sun) … is a delight.
People stayed over and the sun shone on Sunday. We all gathered in the sunspot and Mags got the barbque going for some sausages and boxty and lots of cups of tea … lovely.
And on Monday … the sun still shone … that’s probably our summer.
I did about 4 hours computer stuff for Gabriel in the Forge and then took Coco for a walk.
While she ran around I just lay on the grass … this is what the sky looks like when you’re lying on your back.
Up until then life over the 3 days had gone well … too good to be true.
I walked Coco back home and dropped in to say hi to William and another friend who were sitting in the sun out back.
I let Coco go thinking that she’d come back soon … not likely.
2 hours later … after about 6 people helped me with calling and chasing … I finally just gave up … I caught her when I popped outside and she was standing at Mags backyard.
Coco now knows the Wrath of Liz.
I told her what a bad girl she was in my coldest voice and then made her sleep on the couch … not on my bed … last night. She knows I’m really unhappy with her.
Yeh yeh … stop sniggering … that’s me at my worst … a cold voice and tell the dog to sleep on the couch! Still … she knows I’m unhappy.
Until she learns to come when I call … and I’m going to start re training her on a long line out the back … she will not be let off the lead … it’s just too dangerous for her and other people.
She’s sitting next to me as I type and has had some pats and play … but she’s still very quiet … no bad thing.
And it’s not sunny outside (although as I write sunbeams are shining into the bedroom … not 4 days of sun!) … which is a great chance for me to tidy my office and bedroom.
I send you good wishes for your day … have a good one.
Butter wouldn’t melt … last days of freedom for a while Coco
