It’s a lovely Saturday in Ballinamore with a bit of sun shining.
I received a lovely parcel from one of my readers and fellow bloggers … Anne.
She is a beekeeper and over the winter all her bees died from the cold … that’s 6 hives with around 60,000 bees in each.
Anne is replacing the hives and one of them will be called Liz Biz Bees … with a site to tell the story of the bees, hives and honey.
Anyway … Anne sent me 5 small jars of honey from 2008.
Being the greedy little piggy that I am … I initially thought the jars were all for me.
Anne had generously packaged them as gifts for some of the women I write about on my blog … Mags, Sharon, Pam & Dee … and I am sharing.
Mags and Dee have theirs and I’ll get the other jars to Pam and Sharon.
I had some of the honey on lovely bread last night … it’s really really delicious.
Many many thanks Anne for the lovely gift.
A good week for the Under 14’s who won their football final against Manorhamilton on Thursday.
It hadn’t been won by Sean O’Heslins in 30 years.
That would explain all the car horns beeping up the main street on Thursday evening as we neighbours relaxed in the backyard.
Thanks to Sharon for the photos from her Facebook … one of her boys … Brian was on the team.
Congratulations to the team.
And you can also see Sharons photos from their recent New York trip on her Facebook site.
Sharon just emailed me to say thanks for the honey and putting up the footy photos.
She wanted me to say a special hello to her Aunt Reta’s & her husband Lar who were wonderful to the whole family during the New York visit.
Lar is a fan of this blog so he must be a wonderful man all round!
A big hello to Reta & Lar.
And I took some photos of a lovely wedding arrangement that Eamonn created … I wasn’t up early enough this morning to take photos of the brides bouquet.
Does anyone know where the original farmers market was held in Ballinamore? Was it up near the John McGahern bench?
Just interested as I think a farmers market would be a great addition to the town … specially during the summer.
And finally … just to add to the bits and pieces of this post.
Not only is our new neighbour William fitting in very well in our little cottage coterie … that’s Mags and me … but his dog Ella is making herself right at home.
Most days she wanders in to Mags cottage to say hello to the pack.
And to finish I want to show you a really wonderful photo that Mags took when she went on hols with her dogs to the West of Ireland.
The Facebook photos are very small.
Have a lovely long weekend and may the sun shine everywhere.
